Claims Officer

About the role

The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC) is hiring a Claims Officer in Basseterre, Saint George. The role covers the efficient administration and processing of claims: receiving and recording claims reports, preparing claim files, conducting preliminary investigations, facilitating settlements, and following up on recoveries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and record claims reports and supporting documents, guide customers through the claims process, and record claims on 4D software the same day.
• Inspect and photograph damaged vehicles or property, and administer customer feedback questionnaires for new claims.
• Prepare claim files, contact third-party insurers about liability, request police reports and witness statements, and liaise with Accounts on the client's account balance.
• Review estimates, prepare settlements, communicate approved settlements, inform insured of loss payees, and add payments once settlements are accepted.
• Submit files for recovery, send demand and subrogation letters, and follow up until recovery is made; record recoveries on 4D.
• Periodically review and update claim statuses, and discuss next steps on outstanding claims.
• Liaise with company attorneys on legal matters and forward claim files with legal actions to them.
• Maintain an efficient, easy-to-locate filing system.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• CII Certificate in Insurance.
• At least 3 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Detailed knowledge of technical insurance and law, and practical claims handling.
• Detail-oriented, with a passion for claims handling and customer service.
