Senior Accountant

About the role

The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC) is hiring a Senior Accountant in Basseterre. The post covers the preparation of TDC's management accounts, the review of accounts for its departments and subsidiaries, and the management of local and overseas payables and rebate collection from the Government Customs Department.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare TDC Ltd's monthly management accounts, notes and circulation to Executive Directors and Managers by the 10th working day of each month
• Manage local and overseas payables, including reconciliations, vendor payments within terms, disputed amounts and trade payables in transit
• Review fixed asset schedules monthly and reconcile accounts payable to the general ledger daily
• Prepare and submit duty-free rebate worksheets, samples, concession letters and forms to the Customs Department and Ministry of Finance, with weekly updates
• Review accounts and notes for various subsidiaries and departments (SKMP, Sagicor health insurance, FCIB salaries, withholding tax, VAT, TDC Rentals, TDC Mall tenants, building repairs, purchasing, shipping, etc.) by their stated deadlines
• Post system journals daily by 8:15 am and back up duties
• Prepare tax computations, pension plan accounts, VAT allocation, quarterly consolidation and intercompany reconciliations
• Supervise the accounting department: bi-annual performance appraisals, safe working environment, staff attendance and punctuality, daily coaching and thorough review of staff work

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a master's degree or professional qualification is an asset
• Five to seven years' experience preparing accounts
• Previous experience supervising accounting department activities is an asset

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent written and communication skills and teamwork ability
