Security Officer

About the role

The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited (TDC) is hiring a full-time Security Officer in Basseterre. The officer performs check-point duties at the entrance and exit of the store and provides excellent customer service when necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide efficient, excellent customer service when needed.
• Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to management.
• Check off invoices against the physical items in shopping bags to ensure accuracy before customers leave.
• Monitor the exit of high-risk merchandise frequently targeted by theft, ensuring proper purchase verification and control.
• Identify and address attempted theft of carts or baskets of unpaid merchandise using non-confrontational techniques.
• Monitor carts and baskets to prevent concealment of unpaid merchandise, especially in undercarriages or hidden areas.
• Deliver courteous, final interactions with customers and maintain a professional, approachable presence that promotes confidence and a safe shopping environment.
• Return carts to their proper location within the store.
• Perform any other duties assigned.

Required profile

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One to three years of retail experience preferred.
• Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
• Able to stand for extended periods (often 6 to 8 hours per shift).
• Able to lift up to 10 lbs occasionally.
