IT Business Analyst

About the role

The IT Business Analyst defines business problems through in-depth investigation of technical and non-technical information, outlines detailed requirements for a technical solution and ensures the delivered solution meets business needs. The role often engages on IT and business transformation projects and works closely with other departments. It covers process mapping, data analysis, solution design, stakeholder communication and project execution, and includes assistance with testing, validation, risk management and end-user training.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, validate and document business requirements from stakeholders
• Create detailed process maps and perform gap analyses to improve business workflows
• Model business processes with software tools and recommend technology solutions that close identified gaps
• Identify issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outline their business impact
• Create functional specifications and support vendor engagements, including comparison, scoring, selection and cost analysis
• Support the planning, execution and monitoring of IT projects to ensure timely delivery
• Simplify technical information for business stakeholders and develop user acceptance testing plans
• Work with vendors, departments and IT so that new releases and enhancements are planned, tested and implemented correctly
• Facilitate training and handover of technical solutions, and ensure processes are documented, maintained, distributed and versioned
• Act as liaison between business units and IT, support change management and aid budgeting for new technologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Analysis, Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a business analyst role, including delivering technical solutions to business challenges
• Relevant certifications such as CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA, IIBA-AAC, IIBA-CBDA or IIBA-CPOA are an asset
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to make independent decisions and prioritise tasks
• Ability to manage projects and implement plans on time
