About the role
The Campus Patrol Officer provides a visible security presence across the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine campus. The role focuses on preventing criminal activity, responding to emergencies, and fostering trust between the Safety and Security Department and the campus community.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct door checks on all facilities during evening, nighttime and weekend hours.
- Provide security escorts for individuals requesting assistance after hours.
- Maintain continuous communication with supervisors, dispatch and fellow officers, documenting whereabouts and equipment status.
- Respond to emergencies, assist first responders, and coordinate lockdown procedures when needed.
- Serve as backup Operations Dispatcher, handling dispatch duties and emergency communications.
- Prepare incident reports, manage lost‑and‑found items, and perform record‑keeping tasks.
Required profile
- Secondary school education with a minimum of four CXC passes.
- Previous law‑enforcement or security experience (preferred).
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, public holidays and extra hours during emergencies.
Required skills
- Communications and computer skills.
- Valid St. Kitts / CARICOM driver’s license.
- Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification (to be obtained within 90 days of hire).
