Temporary Cashier (Nevis)

About the role

The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla Trading and Development Company (TDC) is hiring a temporary cashier in Nevis. The cashier handles goods moving past the checkout, secures the company's cash until collection, and serves customers at the checkout. The role covers general pool duties and, for contractors' sales, additional tasks such as duty-free quotations and transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers, receive payment by cash, check, card or voucher, scan products and operate scanners
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits and change; process returns and exchanges
• Count cash drawers at the start and end of shifts, check for counterfeit notes and report discrepancies to the Assistant Manager
• Examine checks and items being cashed, and report price and code errors
• Maintain clean checkout areas, monitor till cash and report excess amounts to the Accounts Department
• Post charges against customer accounts, stock shelves and mark prices when needed
• Prepare quotations and assist with inventory counts
• For contractors' sales: process sales to contractors, prepare duty-free quotations and handle duty-free cash and charge transactions

Required profile

• Successful passes in at least 6 CXC subjects including English and Mathematics
• Previous experience as a cashier
• Previous experience using a point-of-sale system
• Able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand movements, bending and kneeling

Required skills

• Cash register use and knowledge of POS systems
• Mathematical skills, accuracy and making change
• Knowledge of credit and debit card processing
• Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong customer service
