Director of Rooms

About the role

The Director of Rooms is part of the Resort Leadership team at Four Seasons Resort Nevis, which makes key strategic and operational decisions for the resort. The Director directs and controls the Front Desk, Communications, Concierge, Housekeeping, Guest Relations and Guest Services, ensuring standards are met, guests and employees are satisfied and problems are resolved promptly. The role works closely with Sales and the Director of Revenue/Reservations to improve occupancy and rates.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise the department heads of the Rooms Division and interview and train staff.
• Monitor schedules and activities across the Rooms Division, inspect all areas and follow up on guest and employee requests and hotel initiatives.
• Resolve customer complaints personally, by phone or in writing, and build relationships with returning guests and groups.
• Ensure financial goals are met, control labour and divisional expenses, prepare the annual budget and assist in business forecasts.
• Work with Reservations, Sales and the Front Office to maximise rate, occupancy and revenue, and maintain relationships with retail tenants and concessions.
• Ensure Four Seasons Service and Culture standards are met, support employee development and training, and manage the division in line with the company's mission and philosophy.

Required profile

• Five to seven years of experience in operations management positions.
• College degree preferably in hotel/restaurant management or business administration, or equivalent experience.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to prioritise and adapt, and a solid work ethic and business acumen.
• Some travel is required for training, conferences and special events.
