About the role
The Veterinary Technician Manager will lead the technical team within the Clinical Sciences Department of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Sciences, the role ensures smooth operation of large‑animal, small‑animal, and clinical skills laboratories, as well as the university veterinary clinic.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise four lead veterinary technicians, six certified technicians and twenty veterinary assistants across teaching and clinical areas.
- Organize work schedules, vacation planning, time‑clock management and compensatory time tracking.
- Oversee annual budget setting and purchasing processes in collaboration with department heads.
- Recruit and onboard new veterinary technicians as needed.
- Allocate technician resources to support teaching, clinical care and emergency coverage, including cross‑training.
Required profile
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician or equivalent international qualification.
- Demonstrated leadership, ability to conduct performance reviews and develop staff.
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork in an academic/clinical environment.
- Willingness to work after‑hours, weekends and holidays for emergency coverage.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Advanced veterinary technical skills and theoretical knowledge.
