IACUC and Research Program Administrator

About the role

The IACUC and Research Program Administrator supports the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and oversees all stages of sponsored research at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. This role ensures compliance with international, U.S. federal, and local regulations governing the care and use of research and teaching animals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the research application and submission process, including pre‑review of protocols and amendments to ensure compliance with IACUC policy and AAALAC‑I standards.
• Coordinate IACUC meetings, prepare agendas, distribute materials, and maintain the committee’s website and portal.
• Lead post‑approval monitoring, semi‑annual reviews, and conduct facility and laboratory inspections.
• Collaborate with Animal Resources, Veterinary staff, Environmental Health and Safety, and Campus Security to maintain a compliant animal care program.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related research or science field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of IACUC‑related administrative experience or equivalent experience in animal care and use programs.
• Certification such as PRIM&R Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) within one year, and AALAS LATG or CMAR certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic laboratory animal management systems (e.g., Cayuse).
• Experience drafting and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and IACUC policies.
• Strong knowledge of federal, AAALAC‑I, and institutional regulations governing animal research.
