Certified Lead Veterinary Technician

About the role

The Lead Certified Veterinary Technician will oversee the Ross University Veterinary Clinic (RUVC) within the Clinical Sciences Department, ensuring high standards of patient care, customer service, and student experience while supporting a large team of veterinary professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day clinic operations, including treatment rooms, labs, and offices.
• Provide clinical oversight, support the technician team, and supervise veterinary assistants in training.
• Deliver teaching duties and ensure a positive student experience in the clinic.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to emergency cases.
• Maintain AVMA and AAHA accreditation standards and address team training requirements.
• Conduct performance reviews, schedule timecards, and identify career development opportunities.
• Coordinate general maintenance, safety compliance, and collaborate with the Health & Safety team.
• Contribute to budget planning and oversee facilities, IT, and equipment needs.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or related field.
• Current Certified, Licensed, or Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse credential.
• Minimum five years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician/Nurse.
• At least one year of supervisory or team‑lead experience.
• Experience in technician training and/or student support is beneficial.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using learning‑management platforms such as Canvas and ExamSoft.
• Experience with veterinary practice management software, preferably ProVet Cloud.
