Student Counseling Center Staff Therapist

About the role

The Student Counseling Center on the RUSVM campus seeks a licensed therapist to provide direct clinical services to veterinary medical students. This full‑time, on‑site position involves individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and outreach initiatives within a trauma‑informed framework.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑person individual and group counseling, crisis assessment, and intervention (≈65% of work time).
• Conduct case management, coordinate care, and maintain timely clinical documentation.
• Develop trauma‑informed psychoeducational materials and facilitate mental‑health workshops and presentations.
• Provide clinical consultation to campus departments and serve as interim oversight of the Counseling Center when the Director is absent.
• Participate in case conferences, departmental meetings, and institution‑wide committees.

Required profile

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field.
• Independent licensure in counseling valid in any U.S. state, Canadian province, or regulated country.
• Minimum two years of experience in a college or university counseling center.
• Demonstrated practice grounded in social‑justice, trauma‑informed, decolonial, or liberation‑focused approaches.
• Ability to triage short‑term, long‑term, crisis, and problem‑solving counseling services.
